He was born and raised in the Bay Area, one of seven children.
No one in his family was in the roofing trade, but he started learning early on, at the age of 18 as a "roof loader, " the pack mule of the roofing team.
He quickly became interested in how the whole process worked and started asking questions right away.
He started working along side of the experienced contractors on the crew, and they started teaching him the trade.
He knew that this was his calling and studied hard for his roofing test.
