In 1955, Dan Burkleo started a construction company in Monterey, California that helped him provide a living for his wife, Jean, and their 6 children.
As the economy and construction demands in the area changed, Dan changed with it, mastering trades from general construction to painting to roofing.
Over the years, most of his kids helped out on the construction crew or in the office to help Dan keep the business running.
Bill Burkleo, Dan's youngest son, started working on the construction crew when he was 14 years old and completed the roofer's apprenticeship program when he was 21, leading work crews only a few years later.
