Brand new slate and copper roofing installation located in Newton Massachusetts. This installation consisted of Doherty Slate Roofing removing the old Pennsylvania Spaulding slate roof. They then covered the stripped areas with grace ice&water shield underlayment for ice dam prevention. Then Installed all custom fabricated copper valleys, copper drip edges and copper chimney counter flashing. North country black slate was the choice of these Newton homeowners. These slate were sourced and quarried in Canada and shipped through a Vermont vendor. Doherty then installed these beautiful slate tiles to all roofs then finished them off with a beautiful custom copper ridge metal with a superior copper hidden fastner system to avoid face nailing. These slate form an amazing look with all the copper work. Doherty Slate roofing fabricates and installs all copper work wearing gloves to void finger prints and staining from ammonia acid. Doherty Roofing repaired our slate roof, which had accumulated a good number of missing and cracked tiles over several years, with some consequent leaking. Jason and his team were attentive to the problems and clear about this approach and schedule. The work appears to have been done well. Clean-up of the work area was good. Communication about estimate, timing, and follow-up were excellent. Good work at a fair price.

Outstanding work, outstanding service. Installed new fascia boards, copper gutters, and snow guards. Jason is the best. It's just him (25 years of experience) and his crew. No hard sell, tries to save you money but ensure you're doing what's best for your roof. Attention to detail. Walked us through an explanation. Described what was going on as he was doing the work. Quality craftwork, honest, responsive. Recommend as highly as possible.

Jason came out to access the job the same week I contacted Doherty Slate. He reviewed and explained the issues he felt were of concern and others that I should consider. All great and NOT pushy overselling. I needed some time before committing but when when i was ready they got me on their list immediately. Liz was great about reaching out to keep me updates as my job got closer.
They arrived as expected and completed the job quickly. They kept teh job site clean and safe and kept me updated as they progressed. After the job they checked back to ensure there were no questions or issues ( which is great because sometimes thing look fine of day 1 but are seen further down the line). Not the case with me, all was grand and we were very happy with the work performed. Reasonable rates as well.

I have a slate roof and rubber roof and had difficulty in finding someone who could do a proper inspection with repairs. I stumbled upon Doherty Slate Roofing in Swampscott, MA. Several houses have slate roof in our town. I have to say, he did an excellent job in repairing my rubber roof as well as the slate roof which had missing slates and broken slates.
He also repaired the boston Saddle hips and the flat copper roof. I am excited to write this review as we need people like Doherty who can give us an honest advice as well as understanding this unique roof for repairs. I ready for the winter and not worry about leaks and ice damage for mthe missing slates.

Jason and his crew sre very good and clearly dedicated to the craft. let me tell you, it isn't easy finding a really good slate roofer, but these guys are so dedicated to their craft. Jason was very forth coming with the project before we started and during the project. He would always fill me in and show me pictures of the problem areas and explained how he did things. Hands down going to give them all my slate work moving forward.

We had a bad wind storm back in March that ripped part of our roof off. Didn't realize until I saw water stains on the bathroom ceiling that something was NOT right. ..Playing phone tag with Jason, he finally came out to assess and informed me what restoration was needed. He didn't try to sell me a new roof. He also did tell me he was extremely busy, but would put an estimate together and we'd go from there...Fast forward to beginning of June...able to squeeze me in, came out and were able to restore the roof and ever since - no more leakss!! Jason and his crew are very professional, reliable, good quality and most importantly clean up after they are done. He doesn't t try to upsell you with things that are not needed. You tell him what is happening and he takes it from there. I'd definitely hire him again.

Can't say enough good things about Doherty Roofing. In a trade full of fly by night contractors whose only tool is a phone, because they sub all their jobs out to random pick up crews, Jason is a highly skilled, experienced pro who gives your roof his personal attention to ensure that the job is done properly. Jason is responsive, listens and explains, has integrity (he says what he is going to do and does what he says), is knowledgeable, and is a good dude! Jason replaced my roof, gutters and installed skylights.
Every time I walk by my house I take pleasure in the fact that it looks so good now. The previous owner of my house had a cricket installed against the chimney in an attempt to prevent water infiltration. When Jason replaced my roof he removed the cricket. I asked him, don't I need that cricket? He said, no I flashed your chimney properly and it won't be a problem. He sure was right. Doherty Roofing is exactly the kind of contractor you want working on your house!

We were extremely happy with Doherty Slate Roofing's expertise and Jason's knowledge of his craft and material.
