In 1923, Harry Kyle saved enough money from each paycheck to buy Central Roofing Company.
With the experience he gained working there, along with two ladders, a large black kettle, and a truck, Harry set out on his own.
Central Roofing would be responsible for maintaining or roofing some of San Luis Obispo County's most well-known landmarks, beginning with the Motel Inn, which is recognized as the world's first motel.
Later projects included Hearst Castle, Camp San Luis, Cal Poly and many others.
