Founded in 1946, we operate in the South Central & South Eastern PA, MD, DE and NJ region with a full scope of services that includes roof service & maintenance, re-roofing, new construction roofing, historic restoration and custom metal fabrication.
GSM also offers roof safety solutions and other building envelope products. We believe the prevention of accidents and injuries is so important, that a safe working environment has precedence over productivity whenever necessary.

GSM Roofing dates back to 1946, when Fred Gooding decided to pursue his dream of starting a roofing company.
He moved from Philadelphia to Lancaster, PA and sold his car to pay for his first job materials.
Fred hitchhiked to his jobsites until Bill Simpson - and his truck - joined the business venture.
Fritz Mackes, a sheet metal mechanic, soon joined the duo and the Gooding, Simpson & Mackes roofing company was born.
After returning from Vietnam in 1969, Fred Gooding's son, John, joined the company.

Jim conducts our MSHA & OSHA courses and First Aid/CPR classes.
He's extremely knowledgeable about fall protection safety and many other safety related topics.
He meets regularly with our safety committee to make sure all safety-related communication is flowing properly from the employees to management and back, and that our employees are following strict safety procedures every day.
